Building Your Store Cupboard

 

Having a well-stocked store cupboard really makes your life easier.

 

Here is a list of things that I find I use again and again:

 

Condiments, Oils and Vinegars

 

Dijon mustard, English mustard, whole grain mustard, olive oil, ghee, coconut oil, rapeseed oil, sesame oil, chili oil, red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, rice vinegar, balsamic vinegar, mirin, soy sauce (dark and light), fish sauce, peanut butter, horseradish

 

Flours

 

Whole wheat flour, corn flour, gluten-free flour, white and whole meal spelt flour

 

Sweet

 

Honey, agave, maple syrup, date syrup, unrefined caster sugar, dark and light brown muscovado

 

Dried fruit

 

Dried apricot, dried fig, dried prunes, goji berries, dried dates, raisins

 

Nuts and seeds

 

Ground almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, pumpkins seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pine nuts

 

Rice and Pasta

 

Dried whole wheat pasta, egg noodles, rice noodles, brown basmati rice, quinoa, pearl barley, brown rice, whole wheat couscous, red camargue rice, wild rice

 

Beans and Pulses

 

Tinned cannellini beans, tinned kidney beans, tinned sweetcorn, tinned butter beans, tinned tomatoes, coconut milk, chick peas, puy lentils, red lentils

 

Spices

 

Ground cumin, ground coriander, curry powder, crushed chilies, bay leaves, mustard seeds, onion seeds, cardamom, ground cinnamon, smoked paprika, five spice, cayenne pepper, rosemary, thyme, nutmeg, cloves, sea salt, black pepper

 

Other

 

Tahini paste, bouillon powder, chicken stock cube (reduced salt), cocoa powder, oats, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, vanilla essence, dark chocolate, tomato puree, miso (brown and white), Marmite
