After having our children we began to realise that many of the old classic dishes that we were feeding them weren't as nourishing as they could be. We therefore wanted to create recipes to bring children's food more in line with modern nutritional advice (less gluten and processed dairy, carefully selected & prepared unrefined grains and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables) whilst at the same time keeping the recipes straight forward and most importantly delicious.

We hold great value in the art of using ingredients to heal and strengthen and with our combined knowledge of both food and nutrition (please see below), we hope to create the perfect "go to" place for parents to learn more about health topics. The information in the media can be overwhelming so we aim to debunk the confusion and provide you with what you really need to know for a healthy family.

We welcome your feedback so please feel free to contact us and we endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can.

About Us

Georgie

Having completed my training in 2006 I then went back to teach at Leiths School of Food and Wine as well as setting up my own private catering company cooking for a variety of high profile clients. In addition to this I have recipe tested, taught and run demonstrations, food styled, consulted and trained chefs around the world, as well as writing a variety of Leiths Classes.

Jo

Having completed a three year course studying Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine I continue to further my passion for the art of using food as medicine. I am fascinated by how what we eat can have such a huge impact on how we feel, both in body and mind.  From both personal experience, and the benefits I see in my clients, I strongly believe Nutritional Therapy has a significant role to play in maintaining our health & wellbeing as well as preventing disease.

I regularly attend seminars, lectures and workshops for my CPD (Continued Professional Development), a minimum of 30 hours a year, to ensure I stay on top of the most current research. As a full member of BANT (British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy) I experience the benefits of being associated with a professional body. I also have fully comprehensive professional liability insurance. In addition to helping clients in my private practice, Jo Saunders Nutrition, I regularly write nutrition & health articles on a freelance basis.

Minnie

Minnie is Georgie's sister and one of the main reasons Cooking them Healthy came about. Her middle child Clara was, from a young age, diagnosed with having Ceoliacs Disease which plunged them all into the unknown world of gluten free living. Having Georgie as a sister meant they could experiment with different foods and recipes and create delicious food for Clara, still with just as good nutritional benefits yet not feeling like she was missing out. It also started them on their path into nutrition, realising that embracing a gluten free or lower gluten diet was not actually a bad thing and thinking more about the different foods they put into their childrens bodies and the effects they have on them. Minnie is integeral to a lot of the ideas and topics behind Cooking them Healthy and a fantastic cook herself.
